The Idea

So Kristen, Melanie, and I decided last weekend that we should start an online book club for all of the women in our family. We were standing in the book aisle at Target (where else does inspiration come) when the idea came. We realized that if there's one thing we all have in common, it's a love of good books.

So here's how it will work: everyone will choose a book and submit it via a posting on this very blog. It can be anything you choose--for young adults or regular ones, anything from non-fiction to mystery to romance. Keep it relatively simple, considering that the pace for all isn't equal. We'll randomly choose a book for each month and let you know in advance what it will be. Then, around the 15th of the month, we'll start discussing in earnest. We'll wrap up discussion on the thirtieth. Also, the person who's book we read will be in charge of coming up with some discussion topics.

Our first book club will be in July... so that gives you about a month to read it. Start thinking about your book selection and post it here or email it to mmpowell@gmail.com.

Hopefully this will work... and be fun... and more importantly, keep us all connected!

I'm so excited, except for the fact that pretty much the only books I've read are ones recommended by the family, except for Ender's Game. I know, I know, it's science fiction, but I love it and it's the only one I can think of that you all haven't read. So there you go ... Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card.

First of all, who is ktizzmak???Ican't figure who it is! If this is the first test to teh book club I am afraid I have already failed!!
I am going to change my book selection. We do have that right correct? Since all of us have seen the movie North and South the element of surprise is gone. Personally I like to read the book first and then see the movie.

My selection is I captured the Castle by Doty Smith. Name sound familiar... she wrote 101 Dalmations

I just got the books yesterday and I am going to start reading. I must confess that I have started to readi it al least 3 times. I finally gave up and got rid of the book last month in a D.I. run. So I borrowed the book from Melanie and I am going to attempt it once again.

On a side note, I am reading Can't wait to get to Heaven, By Fannie Flagg, author of Fried Green Tomatoes. It is great, cute sweet and funny.
